Essentially, when you use an app to save information, log in, or perform any action, the backend is responsible for processing those requests. It stores data, manages security, and ensures everything runs smoothly.
When building a backend, there are 3 key areas to consider:
Scalability. What happens when your app grows beyond what you currently envisage? Your backend should be able to grow with your app’s usage — whether you anticipate having 100 or 100 million users.
Cost. Servers can be expensive, particularly considered proportionally against your app’s early userbase. A good back end reduces overheads in the early days, and reduces per-user costs when the app is successful.
Security. Ensuring that users’ data is tightly secure and that hackers can’t get in.
Many of our clients are non-technical people who just want their app to work. We have all the
knowledge in-house to build a sparkling new backend with focus on scalability, cost and security.
Other clients need the app we build to link with their existing backends. Sometimes this requires us
to add to their existing services, and sometimes they prefer to do it themselves. We’re happy either
way.
